Many people say that our weather patterns are changing. Certainly, the last few months have been seriously windy. Not many things get more tested than a set of gates. They are like a sail. The bigger they are, and the more solid, the bigger the sail and the bigger the forces.
Our customers in Wellington probably know this best. A common theme from them is ‘sell a slider’ or ‘don’t go there with a swing gate in a windy location’.
Sliding gates certainly do perform better in windy situations, and they are certainly easier to operate a motor on. The problem is being able to make them fit into a tight location, maybe even with slopes.
One possible solution is the Ranger telescopic gate system. The Ranger telescopic system is a cableless system using a ground-mounted rack track and hidden pinions for drive, with a wheel unit that generates rotation. .The Ranger system does not use cables to transmit drive from one leaf to the next but instead it uses an innovative ground mounted rack track. This rack track transmits movement using a system of hidden pinions that connect to the side rack, motorising the next leaf. The simplicity of the system ensures that it very easy and rapid to install, remains reliable and requires very low maintenance.
Its definitely worth talking to Warner about this system when you could make a slider work, but have confined space in the open position. Those that have tried it, wouldn’t go back.
